The United Socialist Party Constitution
AIMS AND PRINCIPLES
The purpose of the movement is to build a mass party of the working class to establish social justice,
democratic rights and public control of the means of production, distribution and exchange, with the aim
of establishing a socialist society to end the capitalist system of exploitation, and towards this end to build
a united movement of workers internationally.

For this purpose the United Socialist Party will open up a wide-ranging discussion on a program of
actions that will determine the type of movement that would be best suited to represent working
people through democratic process.

The name of the organisation is The United Socialist Party, hereinafter called "The Party."
"The Party" stands for the socialist transformation of society - the replacement of capitalism with an
economic system based on democratic ownership and control of the key sectors of the economy. A
system based on social need and environmental protection rather than private profit and ecological
destruction.
"the Party" will provide political support and solidarity to all those who are involved in fighting back
against injustice, whether it be trade unionists, community organisations, tenants groups, anti-
motorway protesters, anti-nuclear protesters, animal rights campaigners, anti-racist organisations and
other campaigns and protest movements.
"The Party" will oppose discrimination in any form on the basis of race, religion, language, nationality,
sex, sexual orientation, age or disability.
"The Party" will campaign for a socialist Britain with the aim of establishing a United and broader
alliance of democratic socialist states. Recognising that in Britain sovereignty resides, and ought to
reside in the people, "The Party" will always seek the people's prior consent to any transfer of powers
out with Britain.
"The Party" actively promotes the international solidarity of the working class and oppressed to defeat
capitalism and imperialism. While preserving its political and constitutional autonomy "The Party" will
build the closest possible links with socialists in Scotland and Wales, across Europe and worldwide.
"The Party" stands ultimately for a new socialist world, where poverty, starvation, environmental
destruction, exploitation, war and racial hatred are eradicated.
